NARICT and FUTH Lafia Sign MoU on Vaccine Production and Research Collaboration

The National Research Institute for Chemical Technology (NARICT), Zaria, on February 9, 2026, hosted the management of the Federal University Teaching Hospital (FUTH), Lafia, led by its Chief Medical Director/CEO, Dr. Ikrama Hassan Ibrahim. The occasion makes the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) focused on collaborative vaccine production and research.

The MoU is designed to establish strong research, academic, and training partnerships between NARICT and FUTH, with particular emphasis on infectious disease therapeutics and vaccine development. This collaboration aims to enhance the quality of healthcare delivery in Nigeria through joint research initiatives, capacity building, and staff exchange programmes.

Welcoming the FUTH delegation, the Director-General/CEO of NARICT, Engr. Dr. Kabiru Mu’azu, assured the visiting team of the institute’s full commitment to the successful implementation of the MoU. He stressed the importance of proactive engagement and sustained commitment from both institutions to ensure the realization of measurable outcomes.

Team leaders, Dr. Saheed Ademola Ibrahim of NARICT and Prof. Mustapha Imam of FUTH, provided insights into the background of the collaboration, which began in 2021. They expressed confidence in the partnership’s capacity to deliver impactful results.
In his remarks, the Chief Medical Director/CEO of FUTH, Dr. Ikrama Hassan Ibrahim, expressed appreciation to NARICT for hosting the delegation and reaffirmed his institution’s unwavering support for the partnership.

The formal signing of the MoU marks a significant milestone in strengthening Nigeria’s capacity for healthcare innovation. By promoting collaboration in vaccine research and production, the partnership is expected to address critical public health challenges, improve disease management, and contribute meaningfully to national development. Both institutions reaffirmed their commitment to working collaboratively, leveraging their combined expertise to advance public health and ensure a healthier future for Nigeria.
