On Tuesday, 10th March 2026, the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) inaugurated new members of the Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU) of the National Research Institute for Chemical Technology (NARICT), Zaria.
The inauguration ceremony, held at the Institute's conference hall, was led by the ICPC Chairman’s representative, Mr. Mohammed Habib Kwalam, Head of the System Study and Review Department at the ICPC Kaduna Zonal Office. He stated that the establishment of ACTUs in government organisations is aimed at promoting accountability, transparency, and integrity in the public service. He added that the unit is responsible for monitoring internal processes, promoting ethical conduct among staff, and supporting the fight against corruption within the Institute.
The Director-General/CEO of NARICT welcomed the ICPC delegation and pledged the Institute’s full support for the ACTU, reaffirming his commitment to a corruption-free administration.
The newly appointed ACTU members were administered the oath of office by a legal officer from the ICPC Kaduna
Zonal Office. During the event, a paper presentation was delivered by Dr. Nafisa Tijjani of the ICPC.
In his remarks, the new ACTU Chairman, Mr. Abubakar Habibu, who also serves as the Institute’s Head of Audit Division,
assured the management and staff that the unit would carry out its responsibilities with professionalism,
integrity, and dedication.
